Anchs faced a difficult match at home to Bromley, made more difficult after playing three quarters of the game with 14 men, but put in an excellent performance to come away with a well-deserved bonus point.
Anchs faced Vigo on Saturday in conditions made very difficult by Storm Dennis, which produced a low scoring game played mainly between the two 22m lines. It was a game that Anchs had targeted for victory, both to avenge the loss earlier in the season at Darland Avenue and also to keep them clear of the relegation zone.
Anchs faced fellow strugglers Park House at Darland Avenue in a must win match which would keep the winner above the relegation zone. Choosing to play down the slope in the first half to put the visitors under early pressure didn’t go the way Anchs had hoped when Park House opened the scoring with a penalty from in front of the posts.
Anchs made the long journey to Pulborough with a much changed side to face 4th placed Pulborough, looking to stem a run of defeats. It was however to prove another difficult day in what turned out to be a high scoring encounter.
Anchs returned to Darland Avenue for their first home game of the new year against 2nd placed Folkestone. The expectation was of a tough encounter playing a team against whom they conceded 71 points in their last meeting earlier in the season, and so it was to prove.
